Flashback Friday #7: Name Art for Baby

Welcome to Flashback Friday! Today's project is brand new, but made with older, mostly retired CTMH products. If you have followed my blog for awhile, you might remember a baby boy card I made back in early June for a friend of mine that is having a baby next month. Well today's project is a matching gift that goes with that card.

Both projects used patterned papers taken from a retired kit called, Snips and Snails. The cardstock colors used in this project were: Heavenly Blue (retired), Sunkiss Yellow (retired), Buttercup, Sweet Leaf, and White Daisy. The ink colors were: Heavenly Blue (retired), Sunkiss Yellow (retired), and Sweet Leaf.

When you look at the project a little closer, you can see where I have stamped on the cardstock, for a subtle background look.

Although the beautiful baby-boy themed papers really stand out, I added a few embellishments for further interest, including: buttons, waxy flax, gems, brads, and Washi tape.

Here is a picture of the framed project. I had a heck of a time trying to take a picture without the glare, but it proved impossible for a novice photographer like myself. Taking a picture on the side helped a bit, but if you look closely, you can see the reflection of my iPad taking the picture...LOL!

Just a reminder, I have 2 specials going on all this month... when you spend $25 or more on my shopping website, you will receive a free mini stamp, and when you spend $50 or more, you will also receive a free copy of the new CTMH Annual Inspirations 2014/15 Idea Book/Catalog! (Prices are before taxes and shipping). This book hasn't even been released yet, but I have copies in stock NOW! Will you be getting one this month?

Have a great weekend everyone!

I'll see you in the craft room,

Mini Skylark Box from Art Philosophy

This adorable little box was cut from the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge, and then covered in papers from the Skylark Paper Packet. Since the Skylark papers have a double-side pattern, I used one side for the front, back, and bottom of the box, and then flipped the Skylark paper over to reveal another pattern to use on the sides of the box.

There isn't too much of a tutorial to give on this project, since the Cricut did all of the hard work for me! Basically, I just glued the paper onto the box, making sure that a pleasing pattern was showing on the front and back. Since I really wanted the blue Skylark bird to show on the front, I positioned it just right. Same goes for the bird on the back.

I was going to stamp a sentiment and adhere to the front, but I liked the pattern in the paper so much, I decided not to cover it up. Instead, I just added some of the Skylark Assortment (colorful resin birds and flowers) to the front and back, and let the paper remain the star of this project.

The Cricut cuts the box with the appropriate slits to assemble properly. To close the box, simply tie a ribbon, fabric, hemp, lace, etc. through the two holes at the top. Since I had fabric from the Skylark Textiles line on hand, I threaded two corresponding colors through the slits and tied them in knots.

This would be a great little gift box for giving a necklace or cuff made from our Base and Bling line of wearable crafts!

Beautiful Day Card and a NEW Cricut Cartridge!

NEW Close To My Heart Cricut Cartridge - "Artfully Sent"

Even though Close To My Heart has over 200 new products being released in the new Annual Inspirations Idea Book this August, I can already tell you that this new Cricut Cartridge, Artfully Sent is going to be my favorite!

We had a chance to make a few cards from this cartridge at the CTMH convention a couple of weeks ago, and they were so much fun! I'll show you one of them shortly, but first, I want to introduce you to the new cartridge...

Artfully Sent is a card-focused cartridge! There are 700 images on this cartridge, and over 400 different cards to make, plus a font set! Here's a break down:
  • 100 Sentiment cards - quick and easy with the sentiment cut right into the paper!
  • 100 Sleeve and overlay cards - great variety!
  • 100 Card fronts - these can be used as Picture My Life (Project Life) cards!
  • 50 Pop-up cards - with coordinating shapes, icons, and phrases!
  • 50 Scene and/or Swing cards - very unique!
Here is a short video to see the cards in action: (Click HERE if you are unable to view)

The Artfully Sent Cricut bundle includes:

1 - Cartridge (700 images: Cards and Font)
3 - My Acrylix D-size Stamp Sets
1 - 12" x 12" White Daisy Cardstock pack

The stamp sets in this bundle are adorable: 1 set of sentiments, 1 set of frames, and 1 alphabet set... everything that you need to coordinate with the Cricut cuts to make perfect cards! Plus, you get an entire pack of paper to start you off!

The Arfully Sent Cricut Bundle will be available in August, although the exact date has not yet been announced. I am starting a VIP interest list, so if you would like me to contact you when this cartridge is available for purchase, please email me today!

Now that you know what Artfully Sent is all about, let me show you one of the cards that I made with this cartridge at convention...

Here is the front of the "Beautiful Day" card:

This card uses the brand new cardstock and ink colors, Glacier (blue/gray) and Thistle (pink/purple). All of the hand-stamped images come from a new stamp set called, "Happy Birds." There are also new gold sequins and shimmer trim on that card! The new papers, inks, stamps, and embellishments will be available August 1st in the new Idea Book.

As you can see, the "Beautiful Day" sentiment is cut right into the card, and then backed with some beautiful Thistle colored paper to make it pop.

When the card is opened, the real fun begins!

Ta-da! It's a pop-up card! Yes, we can all make pop-up cards, but they are often time consuming with a lot of fussy little parts. This card was already cut to pop! All I had to do was fold on the scored line and Voila! There are 50 unique pop-up cards on this cartridge! This alone is worth the cost of the cartridge to me!

How cute is this card? You can put this card together in about 10 minutes, or go all out with different backing papers, stamps, colored markers, etc. Although the Artfully Sent cartridge helps to get your cards cut in record time, you can still be as creative as you want in decorating them.

Don't forget to email me to get on the interest list for this cartridge. They are going to be VERY popular!
